Dear Craneville Families:

I hope this communication finds you well! It has certainly been a quick week here at Craneville.  Next Thursday night March 28th is swim night at the CRA from 5:30-7:30. This is FREE to Craneville families.  Thank you to the PTO for making these family opportunities possible. If you have not already bought your cash calendar for the spring fundraiser, there is still time. There are some amazing prizes!

Peter Pan is off to an excellent start. These rehearsals will be continuing in May. Our actors and actresses can certainly practice lines between now and then!

There is also room for more parents to attend Child and Parent Yoga on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. Please let me know if you would like to join the group!

MCAS testing for grades 3-5 will begin on Friday April 5th. I will send out an MCAS schedule per grade next week. Grades 3, 4, and 5 test in ELA and math. Grade 5 also tests in science. I am confident our scholar will give 100%. All we ask is students give their best!

Wahconah Building Project

Dalton Community Television produced an informational building project video called “Paying it Forward”. It contains information, testimonials, explanations, and visuals regarding the Wahconah Building Project. The video is about 30 minutes long. You can access it via this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmtsM66FbGc&t=1s

Helpful Resources to make an informed decision:

Key Facts:

  • The full cost budgeted for a new Wahconah is $71,871,107.
    • This is a “turn-key” cost (includes demolition of the old building and contingencies).
  • The estimated MSBA reimbursement is $31,226,147 (including reimbursement for the feasibility study).
  • Seven member towns of CBRSD are estimated to pay approximately $42 million.

**NEW SCHOOL VOTE** - Saturday, April 6th at your local polling stations (10am-4pm)

  • A “Yes” vote will result in…
    • Partial state reimbursement for the cost of the building.
    • A new Wahconah to be built on the baseball field next to the current building.
    • The new school would be scheduled to open in the fall of 2021.
  • A “No” vote will result in…
    • A new school will not be built.
    • The district’s involvement with the MSBA reimbursement program will end.
    • Any further costs due to repairs will be transferred directly to district taxpayers in full (base repair costs are estimated to be between $33.5 – $38.5 million).

Please let me know if you have any questions moving forward. Have a wonderful weekend!
